The distillers at Royal Oak have recently released a pair of limited edition wine finished Irishman expressions.
In 2015 Bernard Walsh travelled to the Florio winery in the picturesque town of Marsala, Sicily.Once he tasted the famously sweet Marsala wines in the aromatic Florio cellars, he became convinced of the potential for finishing his signature whiskey in these Marsala wine casks. Bernard personally selected 10 Hogshead casks to return to Ireland for filling with "Irishman Founder's Reserve", with one cask specifically set aside to be filled with "The Irishman 12 Year Old Single Malt" for a minimum 12 month finish and release as a cask strength edition.
